Guest guest
" Britain Details the Start of its 'Mad Cow' Outbreak " This article was misleading. We should write to the NYT and ask them to read the legal petition for more accurate information. The statement " (The practice of including these ingredients in animal feed is no longer allowed in the United States.) " --- This is partially correct since it refers to " dairy feeds whose protein came from meat and bone meal from slaughtered sheep and cows. " By itself it is misleading and gives the false impression that the US is adequately addressing the risk factors we have here. It also implies that there is no widespread feeding of rendered-by products back to animals in the US -- which there is. In the US, TSE infected sheep can legally be fed to pets and pigs and pigs are fed to pigs and cows. Cows are fed back to pigs. They should have read the legal petitions before writing this. They also imply that the existing inadequate regulations are being enforced, when FDA's own information shows they are not. It's just the same old stuff that it can't happen here. Also - Dolly, your link to the article doesn't work................Pat
