This scares me. We gave my mother heparin (injected) for about a month or so.

A doctor said, why in the world are you giving her those shots? " We then

said, because another doctor told us to. We discontinued giving her these

shots because

1) The doctor told us to. -and- 2) A hospice nurse said that was

absurd.

She said, " our patients stay in beds all day & they don't ever get blood

clots! "

(what do doctors know) Since my mom was bedridden at this point heparin was

recommended.

Needless to say, we discontinued it. Now this worries me. I'm wondering if

heparin

made her condition worse? Did it contribute to it? I'll never know.

Hi Friends:

I just came back from eating at a restauant on oceanfront. HAD MY

LITTLE SILVER RIBBON ON. Sure is a great conversation piece. I was

talking to the waiter about CJD and some of our latest info. and he

began to share about a man who had contracted the HEPATITIS C and had

severe liver damage from t. He had r4eceived a transplant and he was

doing much better.

Back in 1991 my husband Guy haad quadruple by-pass surgery. he ws given

HEPARIN. This was not the first time. He had previously had two heart

attacks and received it both times. Then in 1996 he was diagnosed with

kidney failure and put on DIALYSIS in May/ In case you don't know abour

DiIALYSIS, they use HEPARIN to open the path for the blood flow. The

way I understood it they use it as they begin and then as he is taken

off the machine. He was on 3 times a week until he died Dec.5, 1998.

Also there is a requirement that all DIALYSIS patients are to take the

Hepatisi vaccine. I don't remeber how often, but I do remeber that

there were a series of the shots when it was given. He was also put on

HEPARIN when admitted to the hospital during one of his episodes (what

the doctors said reffering to the CJD symptoms which at that times they

knew nothing abouy).

When he ws in service...in the Korean War...he was given many many

shots. Only the Lord knows just how man and WHAT was in theshots.

I am beginning to wonder if HEPARIN or the

HEPATITIS VACCINE could have had anything to do with how he came up

with CJD?

I still have not received any of his medical records. If I don't hear

anything soon, I will write again. Then perhaps I can add some more

PIECES to the PUZZLE/

You will never know how much I appreiate all the help and research you

have done. Each " little " bit or even Terry's big bits have truly been a

blessing to me.

I thank you and may the Lord bless you.

Betty

I have printed as much as I could to save in a file that I may pass this

on to some of those who are not online.

Betty, I would be very interested to hear what you are able to find about

whether the heparin might have been the culprit of the CJD. I receive

infusions every 3 to 4 weeks thru a life port in my chest and they have to

flush with heparin before and after the infusion and since my port does not

work properly, my nurse also comes inbetween infusins and flushes my port. I

hope you can find the answers you are looking for and maybe it will help

people like. Thanks. Kaner
