Guest guest
Hi guys..Based on some of the posts lately, I thought that it might be time to again mention this " disclaimer " I try to do it fairly often, but sometimes fall a little behind, especially when we get a slew of new members. Where I do believe that the WACMA list is one of the great assets available for people needing to learn more about chiari and related areas, it does have one down side. It is NOT a true cross section of the chiari community, at large. It is easy for a new person to assume this and become discouraged at what, appears to be a rather negative slant to many of the posts. In truth the MAJORITY of people who have come to WACMA for information and have had SUCCESSFUL surgery have elected to leave and go on with their lives. This is not a " bad thing " However, what needs to be understood is the " make up " of the list, per se. The majority of it is newly diagnosed folks looking for help/information....there are also people who have experienced a return of symptoms...there are some whose symptoms have not been alleviated with surgery...and there are a FEW of us who HAVE had very good outcomes but have elected to hang around to try to be of help to others. Thus you can see how the majority of posts are those looking for more help, not extolling the virtues of surgery Again, it's just important for the members to keep this in mind when they read the posts and are concerned because there seems to be a preponderance of negative ones.. Now I will go downstairs and again try to get motivated to clean out some closets that are WAAAAAAAAAAY overdue. All best wishes, Sally R ACM..Decompression '91...
