Guest guest
Hello Everyone, My name is Margo Hinshaw and my father has CJD. We took him to the emergency room on January 4th, when we noticed he was having speech problems. Stroke, tumors and cancer was quickly ruled out. I had a strong feeling what my dad had, but at the time I did not know what is was called. Dad's brother died of a brain virus five years ago, he was the same age dad is now. We have since found out exactly what my uncle had from information his son gave us, it was CJD. My uncle did have an autopsy. My nephew told me a horror story about a co-worker of his who had a relative die of CJD. The doctors convinced them to do an autopsy and than the CDC sealed everything and the funeral had to be a closed casket. That was not the family's plans. Is this the case, are we going to have difficult time making funeral arrangements. I would also be interested in reading whatever is available concerning the hereditary form of this disease. Thank You, Margo
