I don't want to flood our onelist with email, but after just reading

Annette's email today concerning copies of Mad Cow, U.S.A., I realized that

some members may have missed the original proposal sent several weeks ago to

each individual member. I could not send it thru the one list because the

onelist would not accommodate the label attachment. So, I wanted to send

this email out again to those you may have missed this opportunity of

purchasing copies of Mad Cow, U.S.A. at a great price.

I just responded to Annette's email privately. Please contact either

Bill Urdanick and I would like to present members of CJD Voice with a

special proposal.

We are aware of the many " unknowns " about Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

For example, we know that many CJD cases are either mis-diagnosed or go

unreported. We feel the CDC may not be maintaining accurate statistics on

CJD cases. There is a definite need for mandatory state-by-state reporting of

all CJD cases as well as mandatory reporting of all CJD cases in the USA.

One of the primary concerns of CJD Voice has been finding other

channels for creating more public/medical awareness about CJD. We know there

are more cases and people out there that we have been unable to reach because

not everyone has a computer and is on-line. Developing and cultivating

network contact channels is essential to the growth of CJD Voice.

The proposal we offer CJD Voice members is a simple and convenient

way to purchase copies of Mad Cow USA, by Stauber and Sheldon Rampton.

Members and friends can donate the books in memory of their loved one lost to

CJD. By donating the books to local educational facilities such as

libraries, schools, hospice, hospitals, medical libraries, doctors and

nursing homes, we have a two-fold opportunity:

1. The book serves as a lasting memorial in honor of our loved one

lost to CJD.

2. The book opens the door of opportunity for educational awareness

to the public, medical facilities, teachers and children to learn about this

devastating disease.

This idea has tremendous validity and fills an important void.

We have experienced the horrible demon called CJD. Most of us have

children and grandchildren and we are deeply concerned about the risks and

methods of exposure to our young. The children are our future and we must

educate them about this devastating disease that could reach epidemic

proportions during their lifetime. We are also concerned about an

under-diagnosed disease that the public/medical communities desperately need

to be educated about.

Bill and I developed a convenient ordering plan, Bill presented it to

Stauber and we have his consent. Prior to this proposal, members have

had the inconvenience of ordering or purchasing their copies from a

bookstore. For example, when I bought my copy of Mad Cow, U.S.A., the book

cost me $ 26.50.

Bill has offered to serve as coordinator for this plan and will

pre-purchase the books. Members will have the convenience of placing their

order directly with him through his email address: WUrdanick@.... He

will provide a memorial inscription label complete with the donor's name,

loved one's name, date of death, city and state where the loved one lived,

and also our web site address. The inscription label will be placed on the

inside right page of the book. We have attached a file so that everyone can

see the label. You can safely and simply download the file.

Members will reimburse Bill a total cost of $ 15.00, by either check

or money order, which includes the cost of the book plus shipping charges.

Bill will also provide the shipping envelope. When members receive their

books from Bill, the books will be complete and ready for you to distribute

to your local educational facilities. However, prior to book distribution,

we suggest that you to take time to read Mad Cow. The book presents an

interesting scenario that may be effecting us now and also our future

generations.

By volunteering to do this project, Bill will allow time for

handling more pressing responsibilities. I'd like to thank Bill for his

interest in helping CJD Voice further it's cause and for offering his time.
