Guest guest
last week I introduced myself, and my son Philip (6.5 months) who is breastfed and has green, bloody, mucusy poop. well someone suggested that I contact a Dr. Newman, who is a breastfeeding expert in Canada. One of his suggestions was to try Lactaid drops before feeding him. It never occured to me that breastmilk could have lactose. so on Friday, I bought some. It tastes just dreadful, so he isn't a big fan of them. He was having probably 8 poops a day. Once I gave him the drops, it dropped to two poops a day, and a couple of " micro " poops in between. And his poop has now turned this strange dark orange color. It's still diarhea, but no obvious blood streaked mucus. He had one tiny poop this morning that was green. but I don't give him the drops for the two feedings in the middle of the night. if he has had lactose intolerance all this time, then the $10,000 of tests and Dr. appts, and my very restrictive diet are going to seem very silly! his older brother was lactose intolerant for a couple of years, but it made him throw up, not get diarhea. i'm giving it another day, then calling the gastroenterologist. sorry about all the poop talk! -Penny in sunny Sunnyvale, CA, where it is quite beautiful and spring like outside.
