Guest guest
Steph, some great points. But I have to say that for us the first and only symptom we noticed was when got the flu throwing up, and started throwing up blood. If it wasn't for that episode 3 years ago I'm not sure we would have known about his problem. Actually, there is one other symptom and that is what calls " traffic jams " in his throat, if food either gets stuck temporarily, or hurts going down. Although this symptoms is directly related to the severity of his inflamation, not to the food itself. 's esophagus is severe, therefore we feel we should treat. I do have a question, don't the ee kids run the same risks associated with gerd if left untreated? i.e. stricture, barrets, and esophageal cancer? We have wondered, as you brought up in your post, if we actually needed to treat since he has no outward symptoms.
