Guest guest
Dear , What state do you live in? What a shame. The hospital where Saul had his surgery is no longer and the records were kept only seven years. At least you really really know. Guest guest
and Gloria, It is criminal that both your family members had tissue transplants and died of CJD. What is unbelievable is that dura mater is still being used today in the US even though WHO says it shouldn't be and according to the FDA report of October 6, 1997 is not even checked for CJD in most cases if from US. I would be very suprised if the consent forms for surgery mention that dura mater is used and the risks involved. Debbie << From: GlowUSA@... Dear , What state do you live in? What a shame. Guest guest
I don't remember signing anything for Saul. It was an emergency operation. What I do remember is walking down the hall to visit him a few days later. A group of the doctors who were involved in this surgery were behind a glass partion talking. When they saw me coming down the hall, they stoped talking and watched me I never question any of them. I have come to believe that they knew the risks in their proceedure and proberly had decided not to tell us that there was a chance of some infection or virus. I believe the year was 1985 or 96 and according to DEADLY FEASTS the doctors had been informed. Why not us? We were in our fifties. We had every right to know even if there was a once percent chance. We could have prepared ourselves better! Yes, I'm angry! Gloria
Guest guest
Gloria, You deserve to be angry. To be furious. What they did to you is criminal . To have not told you the risks and discussed options is criminal. In other countries they have banned dura mater. They obviously must be using something for the surgery. They deserve the only language they understand: malpractice suits. The only problem is even if you win the suit you still lose because they killed Saul. Debbie << From: GlowUSA@... I'm so sorry to hear your report, but glad you do have the pertinent information to lead to the cause of 's CJD. Thanks for keeping us informed. Like some others, I feel there are more CJD cases out there caused from unknown use of dura mater transplants. Don in Atlanta LDD1222@...
