Article in USA Today Tuesday. 1/19

I bought a copy of today's " USA Today " (Life Section, Page 4D) and there is a

half-page article on Doug and Tracie McEwen. Their picture is so sad and the

pain and suffering on their faces is more than I can bear. I cannot imagine

what this couple is feeling...my dad was 74 when he died of CJD. He was able

to live a long, productive life. I feel so sorry for the McEwens. Their

lives were just beginning.

The article mentions the petition. As one of the initial signers of this

petition, I received a copy of the petition by mail today. We have only a few

CJD Voice members on this initial list. If you don't do anything else, please

be sure to take a moment and add your name to this petition (of course you

need to be able to reference a family member's name who has died from CJD) --

we must do our part. I can't do much to help the McEwens, but I feel that we

can show our support to this courageous young family by signing the petition

and sending the message to the CDC and the FDA that we aren't going to be

silent. There is strength in numbers.
