Guest guest
Hi everyone -- Just a real quick update on the chaos in our lives..... is in the hospital again. She was only discharged on Friday 1-28 and here we are again, back in ;o(..... She was admitted this a.m. at 5:30 after spending the night in the ER. This time she is in because during the night, while she was sleeping, her g-tube pulled out of her stomach and the stoma closed up. There are now going to have to do surgery AGAIN to place a new device. The button that came out had only been in since Thursday and it came out on its own, completely deflated, while she slept. By the time we discovered what happened the stoma had closed off and the ER drs. were not able to reinsert the button or a foley catheter. Needless to say we are bummed about being in the hospital but the good news, if there is any good news about this, is that they are going to try to let her eat and drink whatever she wants and watch for any signs of reaction. She has already eaten 3 oz. of ice cream and drank 4 oz. of grape juice. I am really leary of feeding her a lot of the foods, that she has been off of, but if she is willing to eat, wanting to eat and currently doesn't have any signs of inflamation going on they are going to let her try. They had done biopsies the week before that came back showing no signs of eosinophillic cells or any type of inflamation! Go figure, I can't on that one. The endoscopy to place a new mushroom type device will probably be on Tuesday, late evening. They will have to special order the device (a Microvasive unit) and then on Tuesday they'll place it. Please say a special prayer for her. She has really been through some rough couple of weeks and is definitely becoming more and more aversive to any one in a white coat or has a stethoscope hanging around their neck ;o). Maybe this all is happening for the best, but right now the forest is definitely feeling like it's closing in on us. I'll update everyone later this week. Cindy -- in Colorado mommy to 7, 5 and (22 months, FTT, orally aversive but getting over some of it now that she hasn't had any real calories in over 24 hours, hypotonia, SID, former intestinal inflamation that appears to have resolved with the use of Prevacid and an elemental diet, and getting cuter every day ;o)!!!!!!
