Guest guest
Hi All, I want to run something by you to make sure it is ok. I am in a very early process of making a CJD Quilt. I am using the names on the Memorial Page and I want to make sure that it's alright with everyone to include their loved ones names in it. Just send me a message if it isn't ok. If you want it on the quilt be sure to add them to the Memorial Page. I am cutting out hearts that are approx. 4x4. Very light blue fabric for men and very light pink fabric for women. Embroidering the names on and the date of death and a little flower or heart. Right now the only two I have done are my Mom, Jean Burgette and Ewanitz, I am getting ready to start Ellie Steiger. These hearts will then be appliqued onto a solid white background that is 108x108. I should be able to get approx. 529 hearts onto this. Next to the solid white background will a narrow navy blue border, then a wide white border, and then another narrow navy blue border. On the two sides of the quilt on the white border there will be appliqued vines and flowers. At the top and the bottom will be an embroidered saying of something like......(TOP)We have lost you to CJD....(BOTTOM) But you are not forgotten. I haven't really decided on that yet. I am open to suggestions. If you are crafty or know someone who would make the heart for you then I would be glad to put it on the quilt. It would be a joint project then. I can make up instructions and a pattern and paste them onto the e-mail or send them through the mail. When I can't put anymore hearts on I will put the batting and the backing together and quilt it. If we have any quilters on the group we can all take turns with quilting it, though it may take awhile, I am not sure how many are on the memorial page. This is called a round Robin quilt.....true name.....I haven't made that up! It is when many people participate in adding to a quilt. When it is done, it can be raffled off for the money to go to research or sent around for display. I think there are many possibilities. Let me know what you think.
