Guest guest
Hey Mollie! I got this recipe from another list and have made it many times. I usually make a double recipe and freeze the extra patties . They are great! You can use the TZatziki Sauce on your meatballs! Enjoy! The veggies and yogurt all have carbs, but it makes bunches. Kay in Idaho 255-183-170 -72 Jan 99 Gyros: 1 LB ground pork 1 LB ground lamb 1 tsp. salt some freshly ground black pepper 6 cloves of crushed garlic squeeze out the juice from 1 lemon 1 tsp. oregano 2 TBS ouzo (optional) Mix meat, salt, pepper, garlic, lemon juice and oregano and mold the meat on a metal skewer. (I make mine into patties) Grill until done. Garnish with TZatziki, chopped tomatoes, sliced onions , parsley and oregano. Since we can't use pita bread, Put it on a bed of lettuce. Tzatziki Sauce: 1 med cucumber 1 clove garlic, minced 3 green onions, finely chopped 1 tsp. olive oil 1/2 tsp. white vinegar 1 tsp. chopped dill 1 cup plain yogurt or sour cream Peel cucumber. Cut in half lengthwise. Clean out seeds. Cut into small chunks. Mix with garlic, green onions, olive oil, vinegar and dill. Fold in yogurt or sour cream. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
