Guest guest
Hi Everyone: I spoke with Dr. Gibbs yesterday... such a kind and gentle man. He has a great sense of humor and was a pleasure to talk with. I asked him about the Tonsil Test for CJD diagnosis. He said that for sporadic cases, this test was not recommended. He said it almost always tests negative. As far as spinal taps are concerned... he said that in the case of a " low positive " CJD result, the best direction would be to have another spinal tap performed in a month. Proper procedural requirements/specifics would need to be obtained from his office prior to taking the tonsil biopsy or doing the spinal tap. Of course, NIH does performs both tests....the Tonsil and spinal tap. testing. As always, any questions/comments, please let me know.
