Guest guest
the final report on the blood cultures was no growth, so they got ready to discharge us and just as we were walking out the door and look down and saw dark marroon blood filling the bag from Kody's GT!. Yuk.(we were in the local hosp, no peds GI). Our peds was off after discharging Kody and it took 5 hours to get the on-call doc to order the repeat hct at the request of his GI doc (whom I promptly paged). The crit had not significantly dropped, so they discharged him anyway, reddish-brown discharge and all at that point. 500 cc of intermittent red-brown/deep marroon discharge all night. He was restless and uncomfortable. Obviously, we are heading up to Walter first thing this a.m.to see the GIs. I cannot believe this is happening. I kept having the thought that without that GT, he would have been vomiting this stuff, would they still have discharged him? (BTW, the on-call peds would not even come in to examine him or the discharge) SJHarlow@... http://www.c4isr.com/harlow
