Guest guest
Thank you for the recommendation, I will watch this movie. Hopefully it is not just a " worst-case scenario " of things Doctors could do wrong, all lumped into one guy's screenplay for the sake of continuity. > I think you should watch that movie " The Doctor " starring Hurt. >Just because we didn't go to medical school, doesn't > mean we can't > use our ears and eyes as well as the next person. Perhaps better. And we, the medical community, should be able to expect people to take a certain amount of interest in and responsibility for their health. Anyone who knows how many homers that Mark McGwire hit but doesn't know their own cholesterol has odd priorities. I would argue that a Doctor's job is to help. Help confirm that you are sick. Help direct your recovery. Help ease pain. Help you to make your body function better. Will any Doctor or researcher ever have a stake in your health as big as your own stake? Probably not. Doctors battle a foe that has unlimited resources- nature. Nature is designed to attack us, to become ever stronger and more deadly. Doctors are like baseball players in that they perform science as if it is an art. However, baseball players are forgiven if they strike out in the big game. And, baseball players make more money and don't have to spend 10 years in school.
