Guest guest
Dear Colin Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Dad. I second everything Kelley said. Treatment of anxiety and depression in the elderly is very tricky and should be performed by someone with experience in this area. The presence of RLS complicates the situation but with your knowledge of the drugs that can aggravate RLS and with a cooperative physician, your Mom's problem can be handled. Take care. Guest guest
Dear Colin; My deepest sympathy on the loss of your Dad. Please pass this along to your Mom. I don't have any words of wisdom for you really. Perhaps some chamomile tea or even Jill's tension tamer tea would help. I echo Dr. Levin, her Dr. should be able to help her. I get knots in my stomach when my anxiety acts up, I am on the lowest dose possible of Xanax, but I don't know if they want to give it to elderly people, it does help though and doesn't knock me out, if I take 1/2 or even a full one during the day and stay active I am okay... If it's any help, my Mom is 83 and has recently been put on Mirapex (sorry I don't know the generic name) for her RLS, it is working good. She still takes sinement, but her Dr. has cut her back on that now to see how well the mirapex works alone. Best of luck to you both, Colin. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
Debbie: Sorry about the " reply-to " feature on the new mailing list. I am still getting used to this one, as it is quite different from an administrative point of view. I have changed it to where when you hit " reply " , the sender's e-mail address automatically shows up in the " To " box in your e-mail program. If you want to send a message to the group, you will have to put in the rlssupport (AT) onelist (DOT) com address. See if that works any better. Take care, Jodi Debbie A Rupp wrote: > From: wildthang27@... Guest guest
Okay, I meant my letter for Colin to go directly to him, not that I said anything the group couldn't read, but it went straight to the list. Seems we have the opposite reaction to the old list, where if you didn't change the TO: it went to the person writing it... I'm confused... Guest guest
Hi everyone. It has been a while. I've been in the hospital for two weeks - MY anxiety & depression hit rock bottom and I was moving in dangerous directions. I'm still on my Neurontin, but the doctors have revised everything else. The shrink was quite insistent that I was a good candidate for ECT, and I've gone through 5 of the 6 he scheduled. My last one is on Monday morning - I have to head back into the hospital on Sunday night, but I think they will release me Monday afternoon permanently. I'm on Manerix, which is a modified MAOI, as well as Xanax 3x a day. They've been giving me Imovane (a sleeping pill) for a lot of nights now, so I've been sleeping too. My legs are simply not bothering me, which is a nice change of pace. It feels very strange being at home, and my memory is playing a lot of tricks with me. There's plenty I can't remember, and I'm kind of nervous about moving back home. I suppose I have no choice, and have to make my own efforts to get things turned around happily, but I just don't like feeling this spaced out. Anyway, I'm surviving, and when I get back home for good, I certainly want to get back into all the lists I've been neglecting for a couple of weeks. Hope everyone is hanging in there. I'm thinking of you! Hugs, Eve
