Guest guest
Hi Dale - I am also a relatively new member to the list. I smiled in sympathy at your words " I kicked the bed at night to get to sleep. " I have seen each of my " sleep oddities " as I have called them described by others and find it comforting. (Though I would wish everyoe not to have any symptoms!). Being in the company (cyber company that it is) of others with similar experiences is helping me alot. I have regarded my " utchy legs " as a frustrating problem but not paid attention to what exaserbates it, what soothes, etc. I am learning to pay attention and understand more. I look forward to keeping a log for 2 weeks as Clifforrd suggests so I can become aware of patterns. Sharon in Ithaca
Guest guest
Hi gang, Eve, as they say, " there are no accidents. " I want you to know that there is absolutely no reason to feel embarrassed about your post. I admire people who put their thoughts and feelings to paper. Perhaps you really helped someone. Question, I've been waking up with toe curling cramps, in my feet. And today, I woke up with a horrible Charlie horse in my calf. This is so weird. Does anyone get these? Has anyone heard from Joyce? Guest guest
Pamela Does sleep deprivation make RLS worse? Sleep deprivation causes one to be tired and more irritable than usual. In that state, the symptoms of RLS may seem to be worse. The usual active pursuits of everyday living are not taken up because of being tired and losing focus. In this setting, RLS can rear its ugly head more frequently and seem to be worse. I don't think that sleep deprivation changes the basic problem that causes RLS, whatever that is. When you are dealing with an entity that changes its severity from day to day and week to week, it is difficult to evaluate aggravating factors or ameliorating factors. To the best of my knowledge there have no placebo contolled studies of the efects of acupuncture or herbal treatment of RLS. In an entity with no measurable parameters of activity, anecdotal reports of therapeutic success are of little value.
