Guest guest
I received an email that really made me smile and feel hopeful. Thought it might strike some of you, the same. Someone, named Ed, had been to my homepage (NOT the part with the RLS...just my personal page). He'd commented on dogs, bonsai trees, and daisies...all of which are on my page, and said something about them and how he related. I wrote back and thanked him for the compliments and said, " Did you get to the pages about RLS? I sure hope we don't have THAT in common, too! " Well, he went back and looked again. And today, I got this message: " My youngest son Drew who is always moving drives me and my wife nuts on his inability to stay still. But after reading what you had to endure I feel that perhaps I have gained some tolerance for my son's plight. " Doesn't that just make you feel good? Like maybe, with some of this publicity about RLS, some kids won't have to suffer like some of us did...being told to be still, when we just couldn't? Don't get me wrong....I still think most kids CAN sit still and need to be taught to, in order to survive in this society. But, maybe parents and teachers will have more understanding and help them find coping tools, rather than threatening them within and inch of their lives if they wiggle once more. Sleep well folks..... Jill, 46 Payson, AZ http://www.netzone.com/~gunzel/rls.html
Guest guest
Hi Jill Thanks for sharing this info. I think you are right, maybe our suffering and sharing and getting the word out will help future generations. As a teacher I always had sympathy for the kid who couldn't sit still. I gave them the opportunity to get up and roam if they needed too. I know that made a difference for them. While on the subject of helping future generations, I am giving serious thought to donating my brain to RLS research. My wife lovingly said she will just cut off myhead and send it in. Just some food for thought Larry Gibbens 60, Baldwinsville, NY
