Dear Group,

This is interesting. I couldn't understand how someone could NOT know they

had PLMD. But once again, we are all doing this dance differently. I don't

need a sleep study to know that I have PLMD. I wake myself up with my legs

flying. On the other hand there are times when I am kicking so hard and

tho my husband usually sleeps through ANYTHING, I don't wake up but he does

and he has to wake me up. Sometimes I will wake up just enough to know

that my legs are dancing (I do the toe circle dance a lot) but not enough

to do something about it. I have to force myself awake to deal with it.

And there are times when I sleep through the night but feel exhausted the

next day and those are probably the times I sleep through the PLMD.

ly, my RLS is very mild and of less concern to me than the PLMD.

(and everyone; I'm not proud :-p), I knew I was sleep-deprived before

my first sleep study, but I thought that what I had was sleep apnea. Well,

it turns out that I do...but my sleep apnea is relatively mild, whereas the

PLMD is anything but!

For those of us who live alone especially, it can be awfully hard to tell

what's going on when the prime symptom is fatigue nearly unto death and the

inability to ever get enough sleep. I had thought that diagnosing the

problem would be pretty much the end of it, but I've found (as have many

other folks with PLMD) that there's a constant struggle to find an

effective balance of meds.

Cheerz,

Janet
