Guest guest
HI! , I am relatively new to the list (have not emailed before), however I have been lurking for a while. I have RLS and PLMD.. and have also been diagnosed as clinically depressed. I am currently on doxepin for depression, sinemet cr50/200 for the RLS. The RLS and PLMD is something I suppose I inherited from my father, who had suffered the same ailments. I am glad to have found a support group for this!!!!!!!! I have a question for the group, if that is ok. I am not so sure of the NETIQUETTE on this email list, so if I do something wrong, please kindly tell me. Please no flames... My story goes: Something strange happened this weekend. My best friend and her husband came to visit Saturday, and we stayed up til around 2am, talking, playing on computer, etc.. they went to bed, I closed my eyes around 215, and woke up around 730. Sunday morning, Jack, my best friend's husband, asked me if I slept any at all that night?? Yes, I slept really unusually sound, I thought. Well, he had gotten up around 3am and 5am to go to the bathroom, and he in checked on me, and saw that I was sitting straight up in the bed both times. I was not aware that I was sitting. Does anyone know anything about this?? I have never heard of this. I have done a search for 'sleep sitting', but cannot find anything. I went to my psyche doc and he has never heard of it either.. Has anyone heard of this before???? Thanks in advance....
Guest guest
You bet I 've heard of folks sitting up in their sleep. My own grandson, age 8, does it often. I know cause when he visits he usually ends up in bed with Grandma. He likes to talk and enjoys confidential conferences with the ole gal. He is a very restless sleeper who sometimes crawls all the way to the bottom of the bed. He also sits straight up mutters a few words (unintelligible) then sits still for a minute before laying back down. All the while he's fast asleep. This child during his daytime hours has always been a bundle of activity, fighting great enemies with imaginary weapons together with various accompanying noises etc., is a restless student in school, hates to go to bed but when he does he conks out immediately. When he sits watching TV he " rocks " . I've tried it and it makes me dizzy. Yet when he sits with his Uncle and plays Chess he is still as a rock concentrating for as much as a half hour. I think he has RLS but my daughter pooh poohs it. This grandchild and I are soulmates. We enjoy each other's imagination and wit and nonsensical nature. I inherited RLS from my mother who inherited it from her mother. I wonder if my grandson has also inherited it. CHEERS!! Guest guest
Jeanne and Mr. Biggles, Thank you for confirming that this is a real thing. I have had sleep disorder, insomnia, for the last two years, and sleepyness during the day, for at least ALL of my life. But this is the first time anyone ever told me that I sit straight up in bed. Hopefully you can get your daughter to get your soulmate some help. What a wonderful thing, having Grandma for a Pal!!!! That kid is one lucky kid, and sounds like the new little kitty I have, restless, energetic and curiously wonderful.. thanks again... linda/44/maybe it was memphis!!!!! Re: new here.. Guest guest
Sounds like a variant of sleepwalking. I have awakened while sitting in the middle of the floor with no recollection of having gotten up. You just stayed in bed. ---linda lwatkin1@...> wrote: > > HI! , I am relatively new to the list (have not emailed before), however I have been lurking for a while.
