Guest guest
Hi Louise, I consider myself somewhat of an authority in itching, unfortunately, having had a horrible itchy rash all over my body for 35 years (Unrelated to RLS). It used to be unbearable, and the only thing that would help would be ice on the worst parts. Now I take a load of antihistamines and the itching is calmed down so I dont notice it unless I think about it. I take zyrtec (called Reactine in Canada), and many others in my position take it also, with very good results. Your doctor is right, that it is less likely to cause drowsiness, although it does not have the potential problems associated with the traditional " non drowsy " antihistamines, some of which have had to be removed from the market. I hope you find relief with it. I suspect it will be better for RLS than benadryl as it does not tend to cause drowsiness. (Drowsienss makes my RLS worse) It is certainly the anti histamine of choice for those of us who live with itching. Regards Margaret.
