The RLS doc took me off it immediately and switched me to Serzone. As of October, I'm on Moclobemide (aka Manerix), now 450 mg. a day. It so far, thank goodness, does not seem to be having any adverse effect on my RLS. I had one morning (oddly enough) of symptoms, but I think it was due to fatigue from a poor night because one of its side effects is insomnia. I'm coming to the end of week 5 of my trial on this med, and I'm not sure where we're going with it because it doesn't seem to be doing much as an anti depressant either. I understand the max dosage is 600 mg. a day, and I wonder if at my appointment tomorrow, the doc will raise my dosage to that. Last week, when he raised me to 450 from 300 mg. he was talking about Wellbutrin as a possibility if the 8 week trial of Manerix fails. Dr Levin wrote further > ... Wellbutrin. It is fraught with side effects for RLS and non-RLS >patients ================= I'd like to ask you, Dr. Levin, if I should refuse being switched to Wellbutrin should the Manerix not prove effective. I know all about some of the anti depressants, having been through Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Elavil, and Serzone, but there is so much out there that I just don't know. I'm certainly willing to try new ones, but I don't want to go on anything that will impact the RLS. From what I have learned, Wellbutrin is often successful with resistant depression, but of course, that is said about the MAOI's too. And so far .... Any advice you have would be HUGELY appreciated. My life is hard enough right now without bringing back the RLS too. Incidentally, along with my Neurontin at bedtime, I take 7.5 mg. of Zoplicone and as of tonight, I'm to take 1 mg. of Xanax, up from .5. I take Xanax during the day as well, though I'm to cut out my morning dose now. The medication issues are getting complicated, and I feel totally out of my element here. Thank you so much.
