Guest guest
After reading the many recent posts about depression, I have a question. What exactly is the difference between clinical depression, and just plain old " down-in -the-dumps " feelings that are a part of life for most of us? I know from reading Eve's posts that what she is going through is in no way comparable to what I feel due to rls. Eve, I react very strongly to your mental nightmare, in part because you are so good at describing how you feel, and also because you have the courage and honesty to share these feelings with the group. You are obviously an extremely intelligent and sensitive person. I also realize that at no time in my life have I ever experienced anything even remotely as awful, despite the fact I have had my share of ups and downs, rls included. (actually rls is one of my least important " downs " .) I also wonder what part various meds play in turning the " blues " into something much worse. It seems that everything in life becomes more severe as we age, and I would like to know what kind of coping mechanisms are possible, in order to reach old age in a relatively sane state of mind. It's very scary at times. I know I haven't done anything to deserve being spared serious depression, or if I have, I don't know what it is. Just some late night thoughts and questions, while trying to keep the " creepy-crawlies " under control. ne, 58, NJ ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
