Guest guest
That is heartbreaking. My son complained of his legs from the time he was a toddler. He hated school, and was always getting into trouble for being " hyper. " He is 12 now, and we are into our second year of homeschool. Now he can stay up at night if he can't sleep, sleep late in the morning, and still get ahead of other kids his age in school. He took Benedryl for awhile, but stopped on his own. He keeps the TV on all night, no sound -- just image, and he has a white noise machine that runs all night. For some reason he can sleep better on the couch in the living room, so I let him. When he was in school and sleepy all the time in class, the school social worker pulled him out of once class once to try and find out why he was so sleepy. He told her about sleeping on the couch with the TV on and she kind of freaked out. She called me and basically accused me of being a negligent parent. I was shocked and tried to follow her mandates, but guess what? He couldn't sleep at all then and his school problems got worse. So now we are back to the sleep routine that works best for him, and when it doesn't work he can take a nap during algebra without insulting his teacher :^) > My 10 year old broke my heart yesterday. Guest guest
My 10 year old broke my heart yesterday. She came in complaining that her legs were bothering her and went on to tell me that her right leg in paticular bothers her most of the day. She can't always get up and walk around the class room so she just sits and jiggles her leg. Last night I told her to go ahead and take some advil, she informed me that it no longer works for her, she tried heel lifts, distraction, you name it nothing worked, I think she finally fell asleep due to exhaustion. I checked on her this morning and her bed is torn apart like you wouldn't believe. Her sister sleep below her in the bunk bed and said she kicks all night. I guess the time has come to go to something stronger for her, I wanted to try tea's but she has allergies and asthema and the Dr. said I had to be VERY careful not to give her something she is allergic to. Does anyone in the group have kids that they are giving meds to? Does anyone know what the least strongest is or what I could give her when her legs do bother her. She has tried warm baths, me rubbing her legs, etc, she is just not getting any relief anymore. Dr. Levin any thoughts on this. Thanks to you all.
