Guest guest
Raine, congratulations on your pregnancy. As Jill said we all attack this RLS/PLMD differently. She has some really good ideas that I try for my 10 yr old daughter. I don't want to put her on meds yet. On the really bad nights when nothing else works, we resort to childrens advil, but even that is losing it's effectivness in helping her. Sometimes if I rub her legs for her that will help, it has to be rather hard though, not litely rubbing, but really kneading the mucles. If it's any consolation, I have heard from a couple of people that RLS sometimes eases after the birth of your baby. Good luck and I hope you find a combination that will help you. Guest guest
Raine, Welcome to the group!!!......and congratulations on your expectation of a new addition to your family!! I was p.g with my first around Christams many years ago and remember how hectic it was trying to shop and get ready for the holidays while you are trying to impersonate a blimp..(I was 7 months at the time) Seems the expences of having a baby are sooo high and with the holidays on top of thats the old checking account down! Since you, like most of the rest of us has had rls for our entire lives you are no stranger to the beast. But, unfortunately, being pregent brings our the worst in the legs, they seem go to both day and night. I even had them during labor and tried to stop the procedure (was enduced on the 2nd one) but was unsuccessfull and because of that I realy suffered. I don't know of any natural cures that will help during this time and you are right about taking any drugs that might harm the baby. The only good thing is that they will go away for a while after delivery. Not because you are so tired, but I think since your system changes so much during this time the twitches give you a break. Jill, one of our group members has a web page with all sorts of natural remedies that I'm sure won't be dangerous wether or not they will work at this time I don't know, but I will give you the link to her page just incase, http://www.netzone.com/~gunzel/rls.html " >RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME . She is a really neat lady and am sure that if you have any questions concerning your legs at this time she might have some " tricks " she might recommend. Ofcourse, she will have you sucking on the carmel apple sucker while in labor! (Jill, if you are reading this you know I like time and they do work, but just polking fun *smerk*!!) Please keep us posted on your progress...you didn't say when you will deliver but I wish you all the happyness and success in the world.
