I assume you will be lolling about on the beach, eating bon bons and resting. Whatever you are doing, I hope you enjoy the experience. Guest guest
Sorry about your M-I-L Bill. That is a tough situation for everyone. It's hard to say goodbye, yet it's very hard to see a person just lie there, helpless, and not be able to help. You probably need a Hotmail account in order to do email, or something of that sort, but you'll probably be too busy to miss us. ;-) Best wishes for a not too eventful trip, and peace for your M-I-L, Kat

Maybe that will be all she needs to hear:)
Guest guest
Wish though it were so, Kat, about the beach and the bon bons. My M-I-L has been in a coma since Jan. 16th '99 and we'll be with her the majority of the time, trying in our own amateurish way to " wake " her up. We were there twice last year for a month each time and tried music by way of our portable CD player's headphones. We got some real good facial responses when we put on her favorites. We also popped a balloon right in front of her face once when she hadn't opened her eyes for a day or so, and she popped her eyes wide open. So we think she can hear well enough. She also winced once, but only once, when she was given a shot. They've removed everything except her feeding tube and trach, and she keeps plowing on. She was and is a very tough old bird. (almost 87). She spent 3 months with us each summer after my F-I-L passed away in 1988. But I'm sure we'll make time to visit some of our favorite restaurants and malls and other attractions. AND JENNY, my S-I-L who lives in the area lets my play with her 'puter, but I tried and tried last year to retrieve my e-mail, but just couldn't make it happen. When I got home, I usually had more than 250 messages. I just hope all you guys will tell me all the important stuff that I miss, after I get back. Guest guest
Thank you very much KAT, and you too Gretchen. Yes it is hard to say goodbye. If my M-I-L woke up right now, she'd yell at all of her kids for keeping her alive. But then again, she's staying alive on her own right now. I don't believe the nursing home will allow the with holding of her feeding, which one of my B-I-Ls has been trying to do for the last 8 months. The rest of us still think she should be given a chance. Maybe we've lost touch with reality, but cest le vie. When my wife and I are with her, we talk to her and each other and most of the time she'll open her eyes and keep them open, once for more than 6 hours, on and off. We never leave her while her eyes are open. The afore mentioned B-I-L goes in for 5 minutes and leaves and always tells us she never opens her eyes. He means well, they all do. My mother passed away last June rather suddenly, so I didn't have to deal with that type of situation thank God. Bill
