Guest guest
Yo Jeff, I am interested in anybody that has RLS/PLMS and the possible cause is spinal, specifically, neck injury related. Do you get RLS in the arms also? Seems to be a pattern with neck/spinal injuries and RLS. Any daytime RLS. One side of body affected more than other? And how is Neurontin working for you, if that hasn't been answered already. Thanks for your time in answering these questions. Guest guest
Yo Jeff, I can certainly relate to the C6 neck herniation and cord compression. I had a nasty fall and had to have my C5-C6 fused. I also had cord compression. I asked about the RLS in the arms because every neck injury, RLS-related case I have come into contact with has had arm RLS also. It is also interesting to note that almost every case like yours has one side dominated with the RLS. Yours is the left, mine is the right, although, probably like you, it does crossover. I usually will feel it in the arms first. Glad to hear Neurontin works for you. Mine is 50/50. Is anyone out there getting on and off success with Neurontin or is it all or nothing? Jeff, do you work or does RLS/PLMS interfere too much? Ed-Cyberphilly
Guest guest
Hey Ed, Glad to answer your questions. My neck problems specifically are herniated C6 with some cord compression, and bulge at C3, no compression. Yes, I do get RLS in both arms. Feels tingly and weak sometimes. I go get day time RLS but I'm antsy enough as it is so I don't sit still long enough for it to bother me. Now nighttime is another story... RLS is definitely worse on the left side. Neurontin works well enough for me to get to sleep (along with some other nighttime relaxation techniques such as reading, herbal teas etc.) with relatively few awakenings (probably more to potty runs than anything else). Anything less than 1200mg. at bedtime is ineffective. My prescription is 1600mg. but can't afford until HMO kicks in next year. Hope that helps.
