Guest guest
Hi Guys, My Dad was a farmer in New Jersey when I was growing up, and if he had to ask a question of a stranger, he would either say " Hey BUD " or " Yo " - but not in a loud way, more like a query. So I think his usage would be an exception to the " low-class " rule - i.e., economically or socially, as my DAD is the classiest farmer/gentleman I could ever hope for. Not to knock your statement, though, Ed... just another word history. Colette, S. FL orig. from S. Jersey
