I think they are easier in some ways than any sort of crutches are, and having 4 points of contact provides more stability and balance. You have the option of 2 or 4 wheels. Most people prefer 2, but some like having 4. It's easy to change them. Some people put the front legs in tennis balls to help them slide along more easily. My mom went from using a cane for a year, to using a walker. The walker was her closest companion for the next 8 years. I'm very sorry to hear about your fall, and I too hope you heal quickly.
