Guest guest
Reading Jill's " testimony " , I remember that one of the things that tipped me off to the fact that I might have RLS was a statement I read a while back that adults with RLS often had what are referred to in children as growing pains. I'm wondering how many others have had this. The " growing pains " I had as a kid (didn't work very well, I'm only 5'5 " ...) are NOTHING like the RLS I have today. Growing pains were an intensely painful cramp (at least it seemed that way to a 7-year old) in the calves which usually resulted in weeping and wailing, and mom running and massaging and rubbing Ben-Gay. It would usually abate in 20 minutes or so. I would say it was a once every week or so occurrence. RLS today is every night without fail, sometimes worse than others. It is not painful, but it sure is ICKY. It seems to explode when I'm lying down, and subsides when get up and walk around, only to flare up again the minute I lie down. It seems to be worse earlier in the evening and seems to die down a bit during the early morning hours (4-6) which is when I too get my best sleep. Just wondering about this " growing pains " thing.
