Guest guest
Monday morning I was hauled off to the hospital by the Rescue Squad. I was in the throes of an angina episode that didn't respond to nitro. I took aspirin as a precaution while waiting for the squad. In the ER they worked me over and when more nitro and other stuff didn't work they gave me some morphine and admitted me. Upstairs I was put on heparin and nitro drips and a bit more morphine. Eventually I felt better. For the next two days I had to first take the radioactive treadmill test which brought back the pressure in my sternum. This alarmed them (I don't know why as they had me running uphill at lightning speed to get my heart rate up to 130) so they put me back to bed and fussed over me, kept me another day to take the second part of the test which, thankfully, didn't include the blasted treadmill. The results were good. My by-passes are working and there is good blood flow to the heart. I have no idea what brought on the angina after so many months of absence. When the fellows on the Rescue Squad came I gave them the paper I'm supposed to keep (stuck on the fridge) about my disability and medications and of course Permax was one of them so there was no hassle when I got to the hospital. I told them the times for my medications and had no problem. It was such a relief to get the Permax without having to argue. Well, I'm back home with Mr. Biggles (thank God for good neighbors). Now I'm nursing a cold (I KNEW I'd get sick in the hospital). It's good to be here though where I can take my echinacea, vitamin C, hot tea with lemon and honey and all my other nostrums (gee, in the hospital they have NOTHING to offer for the common cold. The nurse did make me some hot tea and went down to the cafeteria for honey for me bless her!). ONWARD, EVER ONWARD I SAY!!!! and Cheers!!
