Guest guest
Dear Group, I forgot to tell you that when I went to MIH, I took a stack of your letters to give to Dr Bara. He was glad to get them and will read them. Also a copy of the Nov. 19th on line chat. He will be looking for more subjects, so some of you just might get a call from him. le, I read yours to him, you asked me to mention you to him, that you called him and he didn't return your call. He felt bad he didn't return your call and said he would call you. Now he may forget to do it right away, but the letter is in the folder, so he will come across it again. He asked me a second time what your name was. If any of you are called, let me tell you now, he will want to know about your relatives, so it wouldn't hurt to check on that before the last minute, like I'm having to do. Also try to keep track of when you go to sleep, how long you sleep each night, how many times you wake up. At least 2 weeks before you go. Not to say he doesn't want to know your whole lifetime of rls, but at one point in this study, he is only interested in the prior 2 weeks. I had a brief enterview with Dr Hallett, the head honcho (everybody's boss) on friday, and the questioner I had to fill out for him and 4 other doctors were for the prior 2 weeks only. Of the 4 doctors, 2 of them are Dr. Bara and Dr. Oksu. Before I went into his office, there was another woman coming out, and I asked Dr. Bara if she had rls, and he said yes, she had been studied 2 weeks before me. I told him I wanted to talk to her, so she waited for me and we went to my room to talk. She didn't know anything about her strange leg sensations. Hadn't heard of the RLS Foundation, or the Nightwalker newsletter. I tore off rthe back page of mine and told her to subscribe to it. I felt so sorry for her, her husband doesn't have any sympathy for her, because he's never heard of it. Now Get This!! He is a DOCTOR, a surgeon , and won't listen to her. In my openion, he is a disgrace to the profession, and not fit to be a doctor. How about it Dr Levin???? I asked her if she had any neck problems, and she said yes. She hadn't even mentioned that to Dr. Bara when she was there 2 weeks before and had no idea there may be a connection. I told her about our group and how most of us had not given it much thought either until we started noticing too many " same thing " problems, like neck, shoulder, back sensitive skin, etc. She said when she told her husband about her neck hurting. He just said " Yea, the legs first you complain. now the neck. " and just passed it off. I asked her if he treated his patients like he treats her, and she said " no " . She doesn't have a computer, but he does at his office, so I told her to tell him to type RLS in and he will find out she is not just a complainer. She was sooooo happy to find out the stuff I was telling her. The way she got into the program was-- She met Dr. Oksu, and somehow the subject brought her to mention these strange sensations in her legs, and he told her that this was his field, so he asked her to come as a candidate for the study. She describes her symptoms- when they started it was in her heel, heat in her heel. then it worked into the bottom of her feet with this heat. then on to the calves and now to her thighs. I'm not sure if she said the heat was in her legs though. She described her legs as feeling like a drill grinding inside them. I couldn't relate to the heat on the bottom of her feet, and at first I couldn't relate to her description of the drill. But the more I think of it, maybe she describes it as drilling and I describe it as a vibrating. It could be the same, only we all have our own descriptions of it. She is also from Turkey, like Dr. Oksu. Running into him was very fortunate for her. I'd like to give her husband a good kick in the pants though, and I hope the day will come when he will apologize to her.. I'll keep thinking of more, and let you know when I do. And if any of you have questions I haven't covered, just ask me. I'll answer what I can. By the way, This THUMPER thing sounds like what I'd love to have. Someone please let me know what kind of store carries them. I may get one for Christmas. My husband has been asking me what I want. I just sold some of my pen & ink prints, so now while I have the money is the time to do it. Talk to you later.
