I still have trouble in that, Dr's know about neuropathic pain in cancer patients and treat them with pain medications (fairly strong). Yet persons with P.N. hereditary or not do not get this same consideration. http://my.webmd.com/content/dmk/dmk_article_> >

Yes persons with cancer die and are kept comfortable until death if possible, yet we with this same type of pain have to LIVE with it. HUM sorry just meant to post the url, not get on the band wagon! >> ++++++++++++++++++ , I understand exactly what your saying... It is so hard to get a doctor to actually prescibe pain meds or enough pain meds to help a person deal with pain. I (AGAIN) changed doctors. After a year of going to a clinic that never scheduled me with the same doctor during the entire year I was there. 2 months ago I tried to get a refill for Vicodin for my pain. I put my RX in on Tuesday and the Pharmacy faxed it to my doctor on Wednesday. I called the pharmacy on Saturday to make sure my meds were ready and found out it had not been approved. So, I called my doctors office and was given a story that they never got a refill request. So I told them that I had called the pharmacy and was told it had been faxed. So the nurse said they would call me back. They did 1 1/2 hr's later. At that time I was told that the doctor there would not refill my vicodin. She wanted me to make an appt. to come into the office before she refilled it. I diffinantely got upset, and threatened a law suit.... In the state of Oregon they cannot refuse pain meds to a person with chronic pain.... The problem was that this doctor had never seen me and so wasn't willing to take time to read the medical file in order to verify the need and make sure I wasn't misusing the meds. I take Vicodin 500mg 1 to 1/2 a night only as needed. I have been up as high as 3 vicodin a night. Plus, instead of giving me 45 tablets they would only give me 30 to last all month.... I had been able to keep it within days each time to the 30 day supply a month. THIS IS NOT ABUSE! The nurse calls me back after I threaten law suit and told me the doctor had approved the RX last Thursday that the pharmacy made a mistake.... LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE .. LOL Anyway, I did get my refill and I also have a new doctor. I found it interesting that he said that he would like to see me on Neurontin and Flexiril and not Vicodin.... I told him I had worse side affects from the neurontin than I ever did from the vicodin.... He did not have a problem writing me a RX and without me stating a qty. he put down 60 tablets for 30 days. I won't have to bother going to the pharmacy for almost 2 months. The End! Jeanie (from Oregon) Moonglow21@...
