Guest guest
Hi Everyone: I have a question that I haven't heard answered since I am with the support group. You all speak of the medicines you take for your rls, and my question to you is whether or not anyone has had a problem with their rls medicine affecting their blood pressure. At the moment I am fortunate enough not to have to take medicine specifically for my rls symptoms. I can, so far, control them with over the counter drugs. My symptoms, however, are progressively getting worse. I know it is only a matter of time until I will need to look closer into specific medicines for this problem. As I shared with the group last week, I just worked through what could have been a fatal bout with high blood pressure. My concern is that when the time comes to looks into these medicines, they will carry that familiar warning (do not take in the presence of hypertension). I would appreciate if anyone could share any experiences they might have had with this problem. Thanks a lot for the opportunities this group has given me for the first real support I have had with this problem. Today was a beautiful and sunny one here in N. E. Pa. Sure does make the spirits soar. Louise - 58 - Pa.
Guest guest
Louise, I also have high blood pressure and rls. I do not believe that the Parkinson Disease medications are contraindicated for patients with high blood pressure, but of course you will want to check with your doctor before taking any medication. I discovered that calcium channel blockers aggravate my rls. You will also have to be very careful with drug interactions. I think, for example, that my high blood pressure medication (a beta blocker) may have exasperated the dizziness from permax, and caused me to faint. (I would bet that my neuro won't agree.) I hope that you can put off taking medication for your rls for a long time. When it does become necessary, a competent doctor will be able to help you treat both conditions. And when (if) all else fails, stay in touch with this group. If they don't know first hand, they sure do know where to find out. Guest guest
Hi Louise, I take Procardia for b.p. and the neurologist told me that Mirapex might help lower the b.p. - not really a significant difference in either direction, in the year I've been with the Mirapex. Both b.p. and rls somewhat under control- room for improvement in both. ne, 59, Lawrenceville, NJ --- Serdikof Serdikof@...> wrote: > > > Louise, > I also have high blood pressure and rls.
