Guest guest
Hi Joan and welcome to our list... I too suffer from PLMD and when I wake up in the morning, my legs will be tight just as you described. I have RLS also, but that is a different feeling for me. It's more like ant's crawling around inside my legs, as soon as I get up and move, it will quit until I sit down again. My Dr. recently put me on Naproxin to see if it would help the RLS, it doesn't help that so much, but it does help the PLMD. I don't wake up with sore, achey legs in the morning. Naproxin is a heavy duty NSAID and can cause stomach problems, if you try it, be careful. I take mine at dinner time so I have plenty of food in my stomach. I have never taken sinemet, but I understand that after awhile it can cause rebound affect, or worsening of your symptoms during the day. I'm sure someone on the list can better tell you about that. Good luck, peacful, easy days and nights. Debbie , Ca 42 ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Guest guest
Joan, I think almost everyone in this group has had the same experience with Sinemet. I works for awhile, then causes rebound (symptoms start earlier) and augmentation (symptoms get worse). Eventually you take more and more until the augmentation and rebound become so severe that you start on a different drug. Someone in this group asked why we all seem to have to go through Sinemet before taking more appropriate medications. I guess because Sinemet was one of the first drugs prescribed for rls, doctors feel comfortable with it. There are four other Parkinson's drugs that work well for some people. Go on line to www.rls.org. There is a wealth of information about Sinemet and all of the other medications used.
