Guest guest
I was so happy when I found there was a support group for RLS. As a new one to the group I would like to share my story with you. Over 20yrs ago I was in a car accident, and within 6 months I began to experience pain in one leg, and over the years the other leg(just from knee area down)has caught up, and most days, both are hurting to the point that I literally cry. I was diagnoised with RLS and the Doctor put me on clonzepam which worked for 12years, then the meds just stopped working, and since that time I've been tried on Sinemet, Permax, Neurontin, Mirapex, and lots of pain killers all to noavail. I would like to know if there is anyone out there who also experiences severe pain in one or both legs. My area of pain is approx two inches away from the center bone which runs down the front of the leg, and into the feet. On both legs it is towards the outer side of the legs, away from the center bone. At first my legs mainly gave me problems when it came time to sleep, but now they hurt (can't describe the pain) day and night. I am unable to work due to lack of sleep, concentration, and because of the side effects of the medications. Another question I ask the group is: Have most of you undergone many tests, or gone through a sleep disorder clinic before being diagnoised with RLS? The reason I ask is that 2 Neurologist have stated that I really don't have the charaterists of RLS, and yet no other testing has been done. I am so frustrated, tired, and see very little hope at this point to get rid of the pain. It will be good to hear your stories, to help me learn to cope, vent and get feedback. If anyone can answer my questions, please e-mail me at susanjohnsonnb@... or thru the group. Thanks a lot. from Canada
