Guest guest
Hi Marti, Great intro. I could relate so well. I am 47, and pretty active, wearing in-shoe orthotics inserts in New Balance Cross Trainers Model # 752 or #753. I love them. As for drinking alcohol, I did that for 9 years because I was in such emotional pain (from not dealing adequately with my CMT) Yeah and you can imagine how I walked loaded with booze and pot too. An interesting thing happened when I stopped those chemicals and got honest with myself - 1) I felt better, 2) I walked better 3) I had a major attitude change (negative to positive) 3) I got real, life long friends, and perhaps most importantly 4) my CMT symptoms improved, especially balance! (well, yeah, alcohol kind of screws up one's nerves and muscles 5) and in AA I learned the importance of acceptance, belief, gratitude, and helping others, all of which my life for the last twenty years has been based. And so far I have had one heck of an interesting, happy, rewarding, full-of-adventure life! Happiness for me can be anything from taking a vacation to watching the antics of butterflies in my garden.
