Guest guest
Hello Jeff, It is definitely worthwhile to have your blood sampled and analysed for serum iron and ferritin. In case you have below 50 of ferritin, ask for an iron prescription. Problem with iron: difficult to assimilate and not good for the digestive system. Tip: the best form for the stomach is a Fe(III)-polysugar preparation but is also the less assimilable. My wife took this form almost one year with only a peanut increase in her ferritin. I think now that the best compromise is a Fe(II)-fumarate preparation. The iron sulfate preps (FeSO4) are actually the worse for the digestive system. good luck Bernard, Switzerland > >My fiancee has recommended I try taking iron supplements, but after >hearing what can happen to your body if you don't actually NEED those >supplements, I'm really leery about it...but I'm wondering if I should >give them a try for a week or so to see if there is any improvement. >Jeff
