RLS and fatigue

I discovered something about myself yesterday. Mr. Biggles and I left for the

VA at 7 AM. It's an hour and a half drive each way. After a 40 minute wait

(I'd gotten there 20 minutes early and had to wait for the staff meeting to end)

I saw my Caregiver. When we were through I did what I had to about a future

appointment, saw to my meds (asked them to mail them as Mr. Biggles was waiting

in the car) and started homeward. I stopped in Rutland, Castleton and East

Poultney on errands before arriving home. Then I made up a batch of rhubarb

sauce and did some chores around the house. The RLS had started kicking up

before I got to Rutland and commenced without let up. I thought if I kept

moving it would subside but it didn't. I took my 3PM dose of Permax and it

didn't touch the RLS. It got worse and worse. I was nearly beside myself!

Thought I would lose my mind!!

So about 5:30 I was frantic and although it wasn't time I took Permax again. At

a bit after 6 I was so exhausted I crept upstairs and climbed into a hot soak in

the tub. I stayed there slowly moving my legs and arms (yes, they were buzzing

too) for 15 minutes or so. Then I fell into bed. Sometime during the evening I

came too just a bit as there was an awful roaring noise outside. Even Mr. B sat

up and looked toward the window. I didn't care. I just slumped back into an

exhausted sleep.

At 12:30 I woke up. I couldn't believe I'd slept the entire evening away. I got

up, went downstairs and had some milk and graham crackers because my stomach was

grumbling due to lack of food. Since I was awake I checked my e-mails (there

were a lot of them). By 1:30 I took another dose of Permax and a Percocet and

went back to bed. The next thing I knew it was almost 8 AM!!!!

This taught me that when RLS hits and I get over tired nothing will make it fade

and it's worse than ever. I don't know how anyone keeps from over doing or

getting over tired but I know from now on what to expect.

CHEERS!!

Jeanne and Mr. Biggles in Poultney VT

The noise must have been wind roaring through the trees outside because this

morning there were limbs down and leaves everywhere. We'd had a gully-washer of

a rain storm during the night.
