One more thing I'd like to add, I have had lot's of tests run the last

2 months. Including fasting blood for diabetes. I have that in my

family on both sides very strong. So I keep a close eye on those type

of symptoms. COCO

<< since my brother does not have any symptoms, >>

It's too bad there is so much misunderstanding about those blood tests!!!

Even CMTers who have been told over and over that the tests are limited will

still tell people that's all they need. Too bad. By the way, the CMT 1A and X

tests are only accurate 80% of the time, too.

If your brother truly doesn't have symptoms I imagine he probably didn't

inherit. He had a 50% chance of not doing so.

Good luck to both of you.

I was told that I had CMT but it was a fluke. That it was not in my genes.

Left me with the idea that I was not going to pass it on.

That sure was a big mistake . It shows how little the medical community

used to know about CMT. Some segments aren't much better today.

On the other hand, a lot more IS known today, and there is more understanding

all the time. We are making progress.

" Dad, will you help me with my homework? "

" I'm sorry, " replied the father. " It wouldn't be right. "

" Well, " said the boy, " at least you could try. "

Now that I am older I think the Dr was trying to say it was not in my family

history to show up in my genes. I was the one that wanted to hear what I

heard I think.
