Guest guest
Hi Jan, This is interesting, because I have 3 big, heavy cats, and when they sit on my legs, or even curl up next to my legs, I usually have less twitching and tension. They are so relaxed, I can almost feel their calming effect on me. Maybe this has something to do with the stress factor, as discussed in a previous post. I do relate to the itching, not with the cats, but in the middle of the night, along with a rls episode. ne, teacher _________________________________________________________
Guest guest
There is scientific proof that we relax and function better with animals around. This is part of what my service/assistance dog offers me. I don't know what I would do without here and the male I had for 5 years before her. I got to keep him as a pet, he had to retire early due to bad hips. But it is proven that we are healthier with animals around, that's why they have programs to bring them to hospitals and nursing homes for the patients well being and recovery. Guest guest
You're right Nat. I don't know what I'd do without Mr. Biggles and Machka my cat. Where my (ex)-husband used to complain cruelly about my night wandering and moving about in bed, my dog and cat don't even sigh. They just move over and go back to sleep. If I bring crackers and milk back upstairs in the deep of night Mr. Biggles bestirs himself and patiently waits for a half cracker. Then we all settle back down. During the day they are an amiable presence in the house moving with me from room to room. Right now it's terribly hot and HUMID in the late afternoon and while I can complain loudly neither of them seem bothered. Machka is quietly sniffing the bedpost here in the guestroom and Mr. Biggles has crashed on my bed, all 8 lbs of him stretched out enjoying the A/C in my bedroom (the a/c is courtesy of my caring son). Yep, I couldn't do without my two furry friends!! Cheers!! Jeanne and Mr. Biggles in Poultney VT
