I usually use warm soapy water or just plain water. I will sometimes clean

them with Listerine (yep! ). Sometimes I will clean them with rubbing

alcohol but I think that is a no-no..........I will have to pull out the

instructions again.

When they get too dirty, I usually just ditch them and buy some more. They

aren't cheap but then again, a really nasty sinus or nose infection ain't

" cheap " either, if you know what I mean.

Yes, I guess that is possible and I appreciate you sharing your instruction

with us. Unfortunately, I did not have any guidance nor instruction from a

Respiratory Technician or specialist. I was prescribed my CPAP machine and

sent on my merry way. The medical supply company did not even know how to

put it together nor how to operate it; however, they sure did know how much

it cost and how to process my credit card, if you know what I mean! ha!

Does anyone know if its ok to use a cpap machine immediatley post op?

Ive heard 2 different stories.

I heard no because there is a chance it could rupture the surgery

and cause a leak due to the high pressure and I have heard yes that

its a must.

Allan

Alan I don't know what that machine is or what it is used for but I would

suggest speaking to your surgeon and PCP before using anything that could harm

you.

i have to say that this is an amazing thing - i had the sleep study done

and i have restless leg syndrom but not apnea but after i had it i had my dr

order one for my husband b/c i knew he had it - sure enough - he comes home

with the machine and no more snoring and he says he can tell because now

when he wakes up he feels like he slept all night - b/c he did - b4 he slept

all night but was sleepy all day and swore he didn't sleep - i'm up very

late - usually till 3 am and i told him i guarantee you - you slept - sawing

logs but you slept.

i put it on a few min last night and that is the strangest feeling and he

says it takes getting used to - its a wonderful thing but i'm glad i don't

have to wear it.

Of all the tests, a sleep test is probably the easiest and pain free

of them all.

I too have a serious case of apnea. I can sleep lying down, but

usually end up sitting up and sleeping. I also sleep a lot, which

the doctor said is caused by the apnea. Unfortunately it is in the

most inappropriate times, like in lecture (I'm a student), on the

road (so now I don't drive very far), and even on the phone or typing.

I am one of the few who can't use a CPAP machine, but I have heard

that they help greatly. Also a comorbitiy that the insurance co.

look for.

This is one test not to be frightened of. Take your PJ's and

favorite teddy, go there, and go to sleep.
