Guest guest
There are many different degrees to which we all have CMT manifested in our lives. But I just want to emphasize something - " WE ALL HAVE CMT " . We are pioneers in sharing our CMT lives with those around the world. We never really know the exact hardship, struggle, drama, trials, happiness, joy, etc. another one is feeling at any given moment. Sometimes I feel those of us who have had CMT since childhood and have lived with its challenges our whole lives are possibly more adept at adjustments needed to be made. We all carry the CMT genotype (gene) however, the phenotype (how the disease behaves in us) differs sometimes greatly. I have never felt I 'lost' anything. I don't know what having a 'normal' body would be like.I do not look back on my life and say 'wish I would have...' because I have done tons of things even my non-challenged friends shy away from. I grew up in an era where I just did everything my peers did, sometimes it was hard, sometimes not. Yes, I have physical pain off and on. And yes, the emotional pain off and on too. And yes I have my deep dark down moments and my dogs hear the complaining. We are so lucky to be connected with others with CMT that we can learn from and relate to. And Carolyn, the gratitude list idea is something I learned years ago and still works to this day! End of today's soapbox! Gretchen
