Guest guest
In May of this year, I was attacked by a robber who opened my car door (central locking) and attempted to steal my handbag. He'd watched me get out of the car, walking with my crutches and I had my wrist braces on, go into a shop, come out and decided I was an easy target. I put up a fight, screamed and swore a lot, he ran off with my bag, dropped it, I called the police and he was arrested on the spot. When the police checked his car, they found the proceeds of two burglaries earlier that morning in a town about 10 miles from where I live. He was arrested, charged etc and the set free. The day he was due to appear in court for a hearing, he was under arrest at the local police station for another burglary. In the newspaper tonight, it says that for the attack on me he was given 1 years prison sentence and for the burglary another 3 years. The judge said 'That it must take a lot of courage to steal a disabled woman's handbag - you are despica ble. And tonight, I am quite happy - not so sure about the judges comments although I know what he means. Although I'm severly disabled now because of CMT and its side effects, he picked on the wrong one here and you know - I feel really good about myself. Have fun and you know we're not really disabled - just different and very special people. Sue
