Dear Group:

I apologize to any of you that have received private e-mails from Dr. Meadows.

He has been

banned from the group, but obviously is still trying to " market " his book. I

have no control

over that other than to report him to his ISP, which is also the same one that I

use. Once

again, I apologize to any of you that have received these messages. He did not

heed my warnings,

but I cannot stop him from individually e-mailing people. Of course, he did not

send one to me,

but I have received numerous messages from group members concerning this. I have

taken care of

it the best that I can.

Yes, I got his message too. My reaction was not very favorable, as I

did not like the tone of his message--especially the part about

" grasping for straws on the Internet. " I have found the Net to be

extremely useful in understanding RLS and getting the information my

doctor and I have needed to get a fair level of control of my RLS. The

part about the muscles being the problem strikes me as pure bunk. It

is pretty clear to me that RLS is probably a brain-neurochemical

problem.

I may read his book if it is ever available from the library, but buy

it--no I don't think so.

Well guys, I think this should pretty well answer our question as to

whether or not we were right in banning Meadows from the group. Even

after he's been told to " take a hike " , he continues to

contact folks in hope of linig his own pocket. If this man had been

interested in helping us, he would have thrown out his opinions on

treatment " freely " .

I'm beginning to feel left out here! I did not receive e-mail from the

pushy author! Oh well, guess I'll survive!LOL! BTW, Jodi, this is

totally not your responsibility to fix - we all know (I hope) that we

are opening ourselves up to this sort of thing happening from time to

time, whenever we use the net, and specifically e-mail. This should be

our worst problem in life!

Don't feel bad, ne......I did not receive a letter from Dr. Meadows

either. I think he knew that we were not going to fall for his spiel because

we have been very vocal about this in the group. He is targeting only people

that he thinks might buy..........I'm proud that we all are not responding.

What we need is for someone who has the book to give us the information in it

and really take care of Dr. Meadows once and for all.

Yup, sounds like another " jerk " doctor, just one that tries to get our money on

the internet

instead of in his office.

It's interesting that I had asked Dr. Meadows about the excersise he did

for RLS at bed time, and the letter I got from him told me what chapter

to check for them. I have been really slow lately and didn't realize at

first that not everyone got his letter.

I agree with Connie that we have to be really careful of those out there

that would sell us " snake oil " . I get so tired of not getting quality

sleep that I sometimes feel I will try anything to get relief, and how

much simpler could it be to just do excersises.

Guess I sounded gulliable too....
