Guest guest
Hi everyone, DEPRESSION: I understand the controversy being written here, because I too have been there. This is hard to express for me because only a handful of people know what I went through many years ago. I commend ne's courage to describe her family member's suffering and this inspired me to tell what happened to me. When I was 5 mths pregnant with my second child (ten years ago), I was committed to the psychiatric ward because of my RLS. Although the doctors didn't know what it was that was sending me to the " zoo " . Lack of sleep and worried about my unborn child did it. Lori writes about spasms. WELL, these same spasms started twice labour during this pregancy! The spasms during pregancy would not just be concentrated on the legs, they would start at hip area, " wrap around " groin area, and shoot down my right leg and out my foot in a jerk. This was constant day & night. I lost it. I came very close to losing my child and because I was told there was no " clinical " reason for this, I was told to get a grip, it was in my head, and just relax.....Nine months of this I endured. I had suicidal thoughts, many times. Were it not for my husband and his patience and love & support, I would not have made it through. So basically one has to wonder what comes first? Was I already in a depression state or did RLS bring it on? I try not to go to that dark place when things are real bad. But there are days that it is overwhelming even to this day. BTW, I was never given medication because of the baby, so I survived on chamomile tea all day, everyday. LORIE, welcome! ART, there are so many interesting subjects going on at all times in this group and I love to participate. As I had written before in another post, I've been suffering alone in silence for too long. I'll try to be aware of how many I post per day from here on. Have a great Easter, too. PAUL, thank you for that.
