Guest guest
Some of us have found some relief from our RLS by using NSAID's (e.g. ibuprofen) but have legitimate concerns about gastric bleeding/ulcers and such. For me personally, I got a fair amount of relief by taking Indocin-SR but it would hurt my stomach. I incidently found that the Indocin helped my RLS when I was prescribed it by an ortho treating my injured shoulder. As I said before, I was more diligent in taking my Indocin for my RLS instead of my other RLS medications. Good news! Has anyone heard about the new " super aspirins " called COX-2 inhibitors, Celebrex? Supposedly, the " old " NSAID's obtained their therapeutic effect by blocking COX-1 & COX-2; however, COX-1 helps protect your stomach lining........hence the reason for GI problems with NSAIDs. The new NSAIDs only block COX-2 and hence, less GI problems/concerns. So, I contacted my ortho and he gave me some samples of Celebrex. It is dosed 100mg twice a day or 200mg once a day for osteoarthritis. I started taking Celebrex last night and I will keep the group informed on how it affects/effects my stomach and my RLS. For those of you that enjoyed relief from your RLS with the " old " NSAIDs, you might wish to ask your doc about Celebrex. IMHO RAINBOWPED@... Dunno but I am keeping my legs crossed! RAINBOWPED@...
