Guest guest
Carolyn , Lamar here, I find socks to be essential. I have seen females wear knee-highs over them. But lets face it, the AFO shows and people understand. I was very self conscious to start with. I wear shorts a lot and only one AFO. Needless to say knee socks and shorts are out!! I have found that no one seems to notice, In fact the AFO seems to draw less attention than my walking without it did. People can see you have a problem. I have a cousin with bi-lateral AFO's that is a school teacher. She wears socks all the time, even to dress occasions like church. Without socks I have trouble with perspiration and heat rash under my AFO, as well as friction from the straps irritating my leg.
