Guest guest
Hi, Lucy, and welcome to the group, It is a sad thing that docs are so unaware of RLS. It's just beginning to be recognized as something that a LOT of people have and that it cannot just be ignored, or swept under the rug, or misdiagnosed ( as if we are drug seekers or hypochondriacs). I'm so glad you have found that oxycodone works for you to break up the attacks. One-half a Percocet does it for me. It's related to oxycodone, and both require a prescription written by someone with a DEA #. I've been in close contact with Jill Gunzel, of Payson, AZ, who has given me a lot of ideas, most of which help. Best of all has been the DHA neuromins, which are available at most health food stores. An omega-3 fatty acid, it is derived from plant sources, rather than fish oils. I take two 100 mg capsules morning and evening. I also take magnesium 250 mg, folic acid 800 mg, B-complex, and iron. Low serum ferritin levels can worsen the RLS but, before you buy any iron, ask your doc to get a serum ferritin level on you to see if is low. If it is low, or low normal, the iron might help, though it is important not to get TOO MUCH iron. Jill finds that distractions help her a lot; like jasmine candles, computer games, and such. I think most people also find that some exercise helps, but over-fatigue makes it worse. I'm in Tucson. Where are you? am, AZ ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
