Guest guest
Hi everyone: Before I bore you all to death with my news - Does anyone know anything about Chloral Betane (tablet) or Chloral Hydrate (liquid) and any effects on RLS? It's been recommended/suggested by my Mum's 'neuro' doctor to help her sleep, but he's asked me to sound out the RLS community for side effects etc. Thanks in advance for any info. NEWS: Thought you would all be interested to know that I am having some success at the moment. I have been taking a Magnesium supplement for just over three months; I try to take my daily dose (which is actually quite low - just 10% RDA - but is supposed to be easy to absorb) an hour or two before bed time. I'm tempted to believe in the Magnesium, as my creepy/tingling senstation always 'felt' like if was an 'electrobiochemical nerve signals' type of thing, and Magnesium is supposed to ge important for transmission of nerve signals. This is the first time in my entire life that I have managed to stick with taking a supplement (or anything) for the length of time that it is supposed to take to work. I recently survived an 8 hour outbound and a 7 hour red-eye return flight to the US with very little trouble. Once or twice into the closet for some stretching, and some standing up for a while at the back, but nothing at panic level. . . I am also 'chilling out' when I get into bed - maybe partly because I am expecting restful legs - and I have associated that (maybe..) with beginning to take a Valerian dose, which I took a sample of from my Mum after she was put on it by the homeopath she is seeing once a month. (I know it's a herbal remedy/drug and nothing to do with homeopathy, but this guy is not a purist. . ) So right now I am getting hardly any symptoms, but I still take care to not sit with my legs in the wrong position, or have spicy food / blue cheese etc too near bed time. Also, my Mum is pretty much symptom free at the moment, as far as I can tell. She is no longer taking anti-depressants, and I can roughly correlate her losing the symptoms with coming off the Tryptafen M that Dr.Levin warned me about. She has also been on the Magnesium for about 3 months, and also a Vit B complex. That's it for now. Good luck folks.
